Fall is one of the best times of year to visit and enjoy all that Greater Dover/Kent County has to offer! Fall Fest at Fifer’s Orchards – Monday-Saturday through October 31, Fifer’s Country Store will offer its annual Fall Fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Corn Maze Fun Park which includes a six-acre corn maze, straw slides, zip swings, games, pumpkin painting and more. Saturday extras: hayrides, pumpkin train, farm animal exhibit, pony rides, live music and local food vendors. U-pick apples (only available on Fridays and Saturdays during apple harvest) and U-pick pumpkins (available during pumpkin harvest)

Boo at the Zoo! -- Fridays & Saturdays Through October 31, 3 Palms Zoo and Education Center, will once again unleash its “Boo! At the Zoo" Halloween event. Hours on Friday and Saturday nights including Halloween night! The zoo will be open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a walk through the decked out haunted woods. Blackbird Forest is spooky enough at night, but the zoo will have a graveyard, ghosts, scarecrows, pumpkins, skeletons, witches, and a few other surprises along the way that are spooky, NOT scary, family friendly and great for kids. Warm cider and marshmallows for roasting will be provided! We will have plenty of lighting and parking across the road. Stories of The Old State House — Wednesday, October 21, a living history theatrical performance, “Women’s Words: The Civil War Told Through Delaware’s Female Diarists,” will be held at 1 p.m. 25 The Green in Dover, free, but due to limited seating, call 302-744-5054 to reserve your seat.

A Night of Motown
— Friday, October 23, Harrington Raceway & Casino will host a Night of Motown, featuring the music of legends such as The Temptations, The Supremes, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Diana Ross and the Supremes and more with shows at 6 and 8:30 p.m. in the Gold Room. 888-887-5687.

An Evening of New York Stand-Up Comedy — Friday, October 23, the Schwartz Center is hosting a trio of really funny folks to keep you laughing — Wali Collins, a regular at mainstream comedy clubs in NYC and Los Angeles; Clayton Fletcher who headlines the weekly Saturday Night show at the New York Comedy Club; and Carrie Gravenson, 2009 winner of the New York Underground Comedy Festival’s emergency talent stand-up competition will be on hand. 226 S. Lantern Tours of Dickinson Plantation — Friday, October 23, the John Dickinson Plantation will host lantern tours of the plantation from 6-7p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m. Activities will also include wagon-ride guided tours conducted by the staff of the St. Jones Reserve. 340 Kitts Hummock Road, Dover. Venture Into Dark Dover — Friday, October 23, the first State Heritage Park will host its annual Dark Dover program on The Green. Visitors will witness firsthand the chilling true stories of gruesome murders and whippings, encounter characters whose legends have left their sinister imprint on The Green, plus learn about the poison candy murder and the Lonely Hearts murder case. Admission is $10 per person. Programs are at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Must pre-register by calling 302-739-9194.

Live Bands Performing at Fire & Ice — October 23-24, the Fire & Ice Lounge at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino are hosting Eleven Eleven on October 23 and Hot Tub Limo on October 24 at 9:30 p.m. with no cover charge. 800-711-5882.

Family Fall Fun and Wicked Woods — October 23-25, Wicked R. Ranch will hold Family Fall Fun on October 24-25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring plenty of kids and family activities such as farm tour, petting zoo, pony rides and more, and Wicked Woods for adults October 23-24 from 7-11 p.m. 2621 Sandy Bend Road, Wyoming. Women of The Green Walking Tour
— Saturday, October 24, First State Heritage Park will host free walking tours with historical interpreters every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn about women’s contributions to the history of The Green.
