Wine Tasting + Lunch at Pizzadili Winery in Fenton, DE
Our first stop takes us to Pizzadili Winery in Fenton, Delaware. Founded in 1993 by Salvatore Pizzadili, it’s currently run by his two sons, Pete and Tony, who have continued in the Italian tradition and made their father’s dream come to life. As the vineyard has grown, the brothers continue to expand the wine selection and broaden wine production. Currently, Pizzadili provides more than 12 grape varieties, all proudly homegrown right on the premises.
While at Pizzadili, you’ll indulge in wines that run the gamut: from a sweet white dessert wine to a crisp, dry red, no matter your preference, you’ll find something to love at Pizzadili. Once you’re there, choose from a variety of wine tasting prices from $5-$25 — we recommend the $25 package which comes with a wine tasting of 5 wines, complimentary glass, room rental and meal package. Once you’ve finished imbibing and enjoying, it’s off to our next winery just 20 minutes away.
Post-Lunch Wine Tasting + Vineyard Tour at Harvest Ridge Winery in Marydel, DE
Finish the day at Harvest Ridge Winery in Marydel —on the border of Maryland and Delaware and smack dab on the Mason-Dixon Line. Fun fact: one of the Mason-Dixon’s original witness stones and crown markers (Number 47) is located on the property, and you’ll see number 47 on its wine labels — a nod to the breathtaking history of the area.
Lovingly run by Chuck and Chris Nunan, Harvest Ridge Winery produces Chardonnay, Viognier, Malbec and Merlot. Tastings are offered daily, and are $7 for a sampling of 8 wines (and you’ll get to keep the glass as a souvenir). Harvest Ridge offers a small selection of cheeses, meats, and crackers for nibbling while you enjoy the wines! Make sure to stick around for the 3 p.m. tour of the vineyard to get a behind-the-scenes view of wine growth and production.
